Firing at Disha Patani’s Home
Gunshots were fired outside the Bareilly residence of Bollywood actor Disha Patani early on September 12. In a shocking development, a social media post attributed to the notorious Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in retaliation for an alleged “insult” to Hindu saints.
Police confirmed that a few rounds were discharged outside the Patani family home in Civil Lines around 4:30 a.m., though no one was injured. Authorities have since initiated an inquiry into the incident and are verifying the authenticity of the social media threat.
The threatening message, posted in Hindi, explicitly named two men — Virendra Charan and Mahendra Saran — as the masterminds behind the attack. The post alleged that Disha Patani had “insulted our respected saints (Premanand Ji Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj)” and attempted to “humiliate our Sanatan Dharma.”
It described the firing as “just a trailer” and issued a chilling warning to the film industry, declaring that anyone disrespecting their religion or saints in the future would face fatal consequences. Police are now investigating the origin of the post and those responsible for the firing.
The controversy reportedly stemmed from comments made by Disha Patani’s sister, Khushboo Patani, who had criticized a spiritual guru’s views on live-in relationships. Her remarks were allegedly misquoted on social media, sparking backlash and escalating into the present threat.
According to Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, the attackers fired around 10 to 15 rounds in quick succession.
“At around 3 in the morning, I woke up to the sound of dogs barking. I saw the attackers firing at our house. The pistol they used was foreign-made. Once the trigger was pressed, 10–15 rounds fired in quick succession. We were extremely scared and immediately informed the police,” he said.
