The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 424 points, or 0.9%. The S&P 500 advanced 1.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.4%.
Meta shares rose about 2% following a report, which the company described as “speculative," that it is planning to lay off more than 20% of its workforce. NVIDIA shares also climbed nearly 3% as its GTC conference began on Monday. The gains come after the S&P 500 recorded its third consecutive weekly decline and ended Friday at its lowest level of the year.
