Washington/New Delhi: US Congressman Ro Khanna has strongly condemned the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old Hindu garment worker in Bangladesh, calling the incident “horrific" and urging an unequivocal stand against hatred and bigotry.

In a post on X, Khanna said his “thoughts and prayers" were with Das’s friends and family, and stressed the need to speak out against acts driven by religious hatred. “We must unequivocally condemn and speak out against these vile acts of hatred and bigotry," he wrote.

The killing has triggered outrage on social media, with concerns being raised about the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh. Dipu was a 27-year-old garment factory worker who was lynched by a mob for alleged blasphemy.

Ro Khanna is a Democratic member of the US House of Representatives from California’s 17th Congressional District, which includes parts of Silicon Valley.
