Amid ongoing tensions with US President Donald Trump over a recent US bill, Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a provocative claim on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that Trump’s name appears in the unsealed Jeffrey Epstein documents. Musk implied this could be the underlying reason for the delay in making the files public. In his post, Musk wrote:

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT."

In another post on X, Musk stated, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out."

Prominent figures including former US Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, as well as Prince Andrew, have been named in court filings related to Jeffrey Epstein’s history of sexual abuse, according to a report by *The Hill*. Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial.

Before his 2024 re-election campaign, Trump had stated he would have “no problem" releasing files linked to Epstein—an action that many lawmakers have called for publicly since Epstein’s death.

However, in 2024, Trump denied any connection to Epstein. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: *“I was never on Epstein’s Plane, or at his ‘stupid’ Island. Strong Laws ought to be developed against A.I. It will be a big and very dangerous problem in the future."*

The controversy escalated further when Elon Musk made a striking allegation that Trump is mentioned in the Epstein files, just minutes after Trump threatened to cancel federal contracts involving Musk’s companies. In response, Musk announced that SpaceX would begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately, citing the decision as a consequence of Trump’s move to terminate government agreements with Tesla.
