A month ago Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk told all federal employees to submit a weekly list of five things they accomplished during the previous week.

But now technical issues have hit the process as a number of employees across multiple agencies have received bounce-back emails- indicating that the mailbox they were directed to email at is full.

Owing to this, federal employees are unable to send their reports as some received an automated response from an OPM email address stating, “The recipient’s mailbox is full and can’t accept messages now. Please try resending your message later or contact the recipient directly."

Federal employees across multiple agencies, including the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Health and Human Services, have encountered the issue this week, it was reported.

The emails are a part of DOGE’s plans to streamline government and slash spending. Following the bounce-backs, some agencies directed employees to send their reports to an alternate OPM email address.

Staff at the Department of Health and Human Services received an internal email Monday stating, “We are aware that emails … are being returned as undeliverable. Please send your weekly accomplishments to [another address] and cc your supervisor."
