Ukraine’s endorsement of a US proposed 30-day ceasefire following intense talks in Jeddah has been backed by several allies. The Ukrainian president's chief of staff said Russia must show "very clearly" it wants peace in Ukraine or not. Andriy Yermak was part of talks with US diplomats in Jeddah to find a path towards ending the war with Russia.French President Emmanuel Macron hailed the "progress" made in the Jeddah talks but called for "robust" security guarantees for Kyiv. Macron urged European and NATO military leaders to develop a concrete plan for "credible security guarantees" for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire. Speaking to NATO military chiefs in Paris, Macron emphasized that Europe must "throw its full weight behind Ukraine, and itself," as per Le Monde. The Paris meeting is the most significant culmination so far of French and British efforts to rally nations under the “coalition of the willing” to safeguard Ukraine. The French presidency reported that military leaders agreed that security guarantees for Kyiv "should not be separated from NATO and its capabilities." n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:25 MACRON RALLIES EUROPE TO BACK UKRAINE FOLLOWING CEASEFIRE TALKS5:35 “ANY DEAL WITH PUTIN MUST…”: TOP EU DIPLOMAT0:00 INTRODUCTION2:20 MACRON RALLIES EUROPE TO BACK UKRAINE FOLLOWING CEASEFIRE TALKS“ANY DEAL WITH PUTIN MUST…”: TOP EU DIPLOMAT
