India beat New Zealand by 4 wickets on Sunday (March 9) to win the final of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers, politicians across the party lines on Sunday hailed Rohit Sharma-led team India after Men in Blue posted a 4-wicket win over New Zealand at the Dubai Stadium to clinch the coveted ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as they chased down a target of 252 in 49 overs.

President Droupadi Murmu congratulated team India for their victory and said, “Heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the ICC Champions Trophy, 2025. India becomes the only team to win the Trophy thrice. The players, the management and the support staff deserve highest accolades for creating cricketing history. I wish Indian cricket a very bright future."

PM Modi lauded the team’s hard-work and said, “An exceptional game and an exceptional result! Proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. They’ve played wonderfully through the tournament. Congratulations to our team for the splendid all around display."

Union home Minister Amit Shah congratulated team India for their victory saying that it’s the one that scripted history.

“A victory that scripts history. Congratulations to Team India on clinching a stunning victory in the ICC #ChampionsTrophy2025. Your fiery energy and unassailable dominance on the pitch made the nation proud, setting a new benchmark for cricketing excellence. May you always come off with flying colors," he said on X.

BJP President and Union Health Minister also congratulated men in blue for their victory over New Zealand.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated men in blue for their victory over New Zealand.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath also lauded team India’s efforts, saying, “What a fantastic victory and superb performance by the Indian cricket team! Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also lauded men in blue for spectacular victory.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also lauded men in blue for spectacular victory.

Congress leader Dr Shama Mohamed, who made the headlines for her controversial remarks on captain Rohit Sharma, also hailed team India’s victory.

India beat New Zealand by 4 wickets on Sunday (March 9) to win the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. In the title decider played at Dubai Cricket Stadium, India rode on captain Rohit Sharma’s 76-run knock to chase down the target of 252 runs in 49 overs for the loss of six wickets. During his stay at the crease, Rohit faced 83 balls and hammered 7 fours and 3 sixes. The 37-year-old right-handed batter added 105 runs for the first wicket with Shubman Gill (31 runs) in 18.4 overs.

The win on Sunday helped India become the most successful team in Champions Trophy history with three titles and Rohit Sharma becomes the fifth captain in the world to win multiple ICC trophies.
