Explosions rocked Abu Dhabi as UAE faced a missile attack amid Iran Israel tensions. Fairmont Hotel in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah was hit.

Explosions were heard across Abu Dhabi on Saturday as the United Arab Emirates faced what officials described as a missile attack linked to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Earlier reports confirmed that Qatar’s air defences intercepted an Iranian missile, additinally there are reports of the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah being hit by an Iranian missile. The number of casualties is still unknown.

Residents in the UAE capital received emergency alerts on their phones warning of “potential missile threats" and urging people to take immediate shelter in secure buildings away from windows and open areas.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE reported that one person of Asian nationality was killed when falling shrapnel struck a residential area. The country’s air defence systems were activated and were said to have intercepted several incoming missiles.

Abu Dhabi officials described the attack as “a blatant act" by Iran and condemned it as a dangerous escalation, asserting that the UAE “reserves its full right to respond."

Amid the chaos, social media and on-ground accounts also pointed to damage at the iconic Fairmont Hotel on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. Video clips and images circulating online showed debris and broken glass in and around the luxury hotel, where guests and staff were reportedly evacuated.

Qatar Intercepts Missile

In Qatar, authorities confirmed that air defence systems successfully intercepted an Iranian missile, with no immediate reports of casualties. The incident added to mounting concerns across the Gulf about the spillover effects of the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Israel.

Despite widespread alarm, many residents took to social media to share footage and updates, with videos showing smoke rising in parts of Abu Dhabi and panic among the public as alarms blared across the city.
