US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively engaged with Boeing and engine manufacturer GE Aerospace in the investigation of the devastating Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, India.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed into a residential area shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport on June 12, en route to London Gatwick.

FAA and Transportation Safety Board investigators will head to the crash site in India and Duffy said the agency is "prepared to send additional resources to get the data we need to ensure the safety of the flying public."
Rescue efforts at the site of the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad have been completed. The crash claimed at least 265 lives and injured many others. This mars the first fatal incident involving a 787 Dreamliner since its commercial debut in 2011.
