Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the Ghanaian parliament, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the parliament of one of Africa’s growing economies in three decades. In his address he also called the nation a beacon of inspiration for Africa.
“Ghana is a land that radiates democracy and brilliance," PM Modi said.
India and Ghana signed several pacts during PM Modi’s visit spanning sectors like research and development (R&D), medicine and cultural exchange.
Prime Minister Modi also paid respects at the memorial of Kwame Nkrumah and was presented with the Guard Of Honour. He thanked the people of Ghana in his speech and said the people of India thank them for bestowing their highest civilian honour on him.
“As the representative of the world’s largest democracy, I bring with me the goodwill and greetings of 1.4 billion Indians," he said.
