Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday dismissed the rumours of overhaul of the leadership and differences between him and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, saying that the two leaders share a good relationship and the government under him will continue for the full tenure of five years “like a rock".
While addressing a joint press briefing in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah said, “We both are on good terms, no matter who says what. Our government will last for 5 years like a rock," he said.

During the press briefing, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were seen smiling and raising hands in air in a symbolic gesture, a public show of unity aimed at dispelling speculation about differences between the two leaders.
His comments came amidst persistent whispers of internal conflict within the Congress, fueling speculation that the party’s state leadership might be replaced by year-end.
The issue fueled up after state minister KN Rajanna’s statement hinted at some possible political development in the state in September this year. The Congress government in Karnataka is constantly being questioned about its power-sharing deals and who will lead next. Many within the party and political experts believe a change might be coming soon.
Shivakumar loyalist and Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain on Sunday predicted that the former will become the Chief Minister in three months, while Social Welfare Minister Dr HC Mahadevappa asserted that Siddaramaiah will continue as the top leader.
Meanwhile, amidst speculations regarding organisational changes in the state, party general secretary and state in charge, Randeep Surjewala, will hold meetings with the party legislators in Bengaluru on Monday.
While addressing the issue, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that he was unaware of the reason behind Surjewala’s visit and mentioned that he may discuss the party organisation ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections.
Parameshwara stressed that the intervention in the state party affairs is the “job" of the Congress party high command, and it is normal that they speak to leaders if minor differences between leaders arise.
“I don’t know for what purpose Surjewala has been called. He might speak about party organisation. Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections are coming up, so he might discuss that. Sometimes the high command intervenes — that’s their job. It’s natural for the high command to speak when minor differences arise", Parameshwara told reporters.
