This isn’t the first time an Indian national has been detained in Qatar since 2022. Just two years ago, eight former Indian Navy personnel, including some highly decorated officers, were detained and later sentenced to death in 2023. Fortunately, their sentences were commuted by a Qatari court, and they were eventually freed in February 2024 on the orders of the Qatari Emir.
