Haryana Municipal Corporation Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: With the BJP sweeping civic polls in Haryana on Wednesday, national president JP Nadda and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance. The Congress, which was looking to turn around its electoral fortunes after suffering a defeat in the 2024 assembly election, had to bite the dust.
Saini said the people have put their stamp of approval on the works and policies of the government, and the “triple engine government” will work at a fast pace to realise the resolve of a “developed Haryana, developed India.” He was referring to the BJP being in power at the Centre, in the state, and in the civic bodies.
Extending his congratulations to the chief minister and other state BJP leaders, Nadda said this is a historic victory for the BJP and a “reflection of the unwavering faith” people have in the public welfare schemes and development-oriented policies that reached wards under the guidance of Modi.
According to the results and trends available for the mayoral posts, BJP candidates secured emphatic wins in Ambala, Faridabad, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Sonipat, and Panipat, defeating their nearest Congress rivals. The ruling party’s candidate was also in a comfortable lead in Yamunanagar.
The civic polls dealt a blow to the Congress, which saw workers and leaders in districts switching over to the BJP ahead of the elections. The party state unit has, in the past, been faced with infighting and factionalism unlike the BJP, which has a well-organised and strong structure at the grassroots level.
Polls to elect mayors and ward members in seven municipal corporations — Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal and Yamunanagar — were held on March 2. The bypolls for the mayoral posts in Ambala and Sonipat and the elections for presidents and ward members in 21 municipal committees were also held that day. For the Panipat Municipal Corporation, polling was held on March 9 to elect the mayor and 26 councillors.
