‘Hats Off’: Shama Mohamed Congratulates Rohit Sharma On Victory After Questioning His Fitness

Congress’ Shama Mohamed had questioned the fitness of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma earlier this year.

Congress’ Shama Mohamed congratulated the Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma after India defeated New Zealand in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Congress leader in a social media post said “Hats Off" to the skipper who scored 76 runs off 83 balls in the final game.

“Congratulations to #TeamIndia for their stupendous performance in winning the #ChampionsTrophy2025! 🇮🇳🏆Hats off to Captain @ImRo45 who led from the front with a brilliant 76, setting the tone for victory. @ShreyasIyer15 and @klrahul played crucial knocks, steering India to glory!" she posted on X.

Shama Mohamed had earlier this year criticised the Indian skipper over his fitness. She referred to Sharma as “fat for a sportsman" and described him as “the most unimpressive captain India has ever had" in a social media post that has now been deleted.

“@ImRo45 is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course, the most unimpressive captain India has ever had!" she had posted.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was quick to remind the Congress spokesperson of her now-deleted tweet. The party shared a tweet with a meme and caption that read: “Rohit Sharma’s befitting answer to Congress" from its official X handle.
