Israel-Iran War: Heavy traffic choked the streets of Tehran on Wednesday as residents rushed to leave the Iranian capital amid escalating hostilities with Israel. The fierce exchanges of fire between the two countries, now entering a sixth consecutive day, have caused mounting casualties on both sides.

A video posted by news agency AFP shows long lines of vehicles on a key road in Iran, with thousands of people leaving the capital, Tehran.

Since the conflict erupted on Friday, at least 224 people, including senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. On the Israeli side, at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Israel, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday announced that hypersonic missiles were used in the latest assault on Israel. “The 11th wave of the proud Operation Honest Promise 3 using Fattah-1 missiles was carried out," the IRGC said in a statement broadcast by state television, claiming that Iranian forces had “gained complete control over the skies of the occupied territories." Israel had made a similar claim over Iranian skies.

What Trump Said On Iran-Israel Conflict

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump sharply escalated rhetoric on the conflict, demanding Tehran’s “unconditional surrender" and warning that the United States could “easily assassinate" Iran’s supreme leader if it chose to.

Trump’s remarks have intensified speculation over whether Washington will join Israel’s military campaign, despite official US statements claiming no direct involvement.

The hostilities have also derailed ongoing nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington. Following Israel’s initial attacks, Iran declared it would not negotiate with the United States under the current circumstances.

French President Emmanuel Macron weighed in on Tuesday, warning that any attempt to pursue regime change in Iran would bring “chaos" to the region. Macron also said Trump had a key role to play in reviving diplomatic channels between Tehran and Western powers.
