Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP, on Friday defended his brother-in-law Robert Vadra, who is facing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to a land deal in Haryana.
In an attack on the BJP-led central government, the Wayanad MP said the latest chargesheet is a continuation of that witch hunt against her sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s family.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi alleged Vadra family is facing another onslaught of malicious, politically motivated slander and harassment.
“My brother-in-law has been hounded by this government for the last ten years. This latest chargesheet is a continuation of that witch hunt. I stand with Robert, Priyanka and their children as they face yet another onslaught of malicious, politically motivated slander and harassment. I know that they are all brave enough to withstand any kind of persecution and they will continue to do so with dignity. The truth will eventually prevail," he wrote on X.

Reacting to the LoP’s post, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal asked why the Gandhi family is politicising the issue and said they should face the investigation agency.
“He should face the Enforcement Directorate. If you go to Bikaner, every person there will say that Robert Vadra earned a lot of money by selling their land. Why are they politicising this issue? Instead, they should face the investigation agency," Meghwal told ANI.
Earlier today, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court took up the money laundering chargesheet against Robert Vadra and others and listed it for verification of documents. The court has sought a report from the record keeper (Ahalmad) and listed the matter for hearing submissions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 24.
ED Chargesheet Against Robert Vadra, Others in Shikohpur Land Deal Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday filed a charge sheet against Robert Vadra, the businessman husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in a land deal in Haryana’s Shikohpur, official sources said. His office issued a statement later saying the present proceedings are nothing more than an extension of the political witch hunt by the present government against Vadra.
This is the first time that any probe agency has filed a prosecution complaint naming the 56-year-old Vadra in a criminal case.
The federal investigative agency, sources told PTI, has also attached 43 immovable properties located in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat worth Rs. 37.64 crore pertaining to Vadra and his linked entities like Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. and others.
A provisional attachment order was issued by the agency on Wednesday under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.
The sources said the charge sheet has been filed before the Rouse Avenue court here under various sections of the PMLA.
A total of 11 entities including Vadra, a firm linked to him named Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., Satyanand Yajee and Kewal Singh Virk, their company Onkareshwar Properties Pvt. Ltd. and some others have been named as accused, the sources said.
