US President Donald Trump declared he now holds "more power" in his second term than he did in his first — citing recent legislative wins and a booming sense of political momentum.
Speaking to reporters on the tarmac before boarding Air Force One en route to Iowa, Trump said confidently, "I think I have more power now. I think I probably do because we've had a great record of success."
The remarks came shortly after Congress passed a sweeping tax cut and spending bill — a major legislative achievement that Republicans hope will define his second term. The president touted the passage as proof of his enduring influence in Washington and growing political capital.
"You know, my first term was very, very successful. We had the greatest economy in the history of our country," Trump told reporters.
"I think we're going to blow it away this term."
The president pointed out that his second term brings with it not only experience, but increased authority and credibility — especially after his first four years and his return to office amid deep political division.
"We've proven certain things," Trump added. "And probably, it's got more gravitas, more power."

Trump said he was "celebrating the biggest bill of its kind ever signed", after his legislation was passed. "It's going to make this country into a rocket ship. It's going to be really great," Trump added.

On Truth Social, he wrote, "The people of the United States of America will be Richer, Safer, and Prouder than ever before. Thank you to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and all of the wonderful Republican Members of Congress who helped us deliver on our Promises, and so much more. Together, we can do things that were not even imagined possible less than one year ago. We will keep working, and winning — CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA!"
