A viral video shows JD Vance confronting pro-Ukrainian protesters who followed him and his daughter during a walk. Vance, later in an X post, stated he only engaged with them to calm his anxious child.

US Vice President JD Vance on Sunday alleged he was followed and surrounded by a group of “Slava Ukraini" protesters while he was walking his three-year-old daughter. Condemning the protesters, Vance called them “s**t" and said he decided to speak with them only so that he and his daughter could be left alone.
A video of the moment, widely shared on social media, shows Vance talking to the group on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, and telling them, “I’m speaking with you and I’m trying to be respectful," also indicating that his three-year-old daughter was with him.

The incident came to light after Vance, in an X post, wrote, “Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of “Slava Ukraini" protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared."
“I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.)," he wrote.
“It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person," Vance’s X post read.

PROTESTERS REFUTE VANCE’s CLAIM
Hours after the incident caught attention, some of the protesters refuted Vance’s claims and said they were not chasing him.
The Hill reported that a video shared with WCPO in Cincinnati showed one of the protesters saying that they were not chasing or looking out for the Vice President, but bumped into him.
Meanwhile, officials in the United States are set to meet a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and are planning to use the meeting to determine whether Ukraine is willing to make material concessions to Russia to end the war, Reuters quoted two US officials as saying.
The delegation will also be watching for signs that the Ukrainians are serious about improving ties with the Trump administration after a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy devolved into an argument last month.
