Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a special session of the Parliament of Guyana on Friday, said that this is not the time for conflict, but rather a time to “identify and remove the conditions" that create conflicts. His comments come against the backdrop of the escalating Russia-Ukraine war.

The Prime Minister further assured that in any crisis, anywhere in the world, India’s “sincere effort is to be the first responder and reach out to offer help."

“We have never moved forward with the idea of expansionism… I believe whether it is space or sea, this should be the subject of universal cooperation, not universal conflict. For the world also, this is not time for conflict, this is the time to identify the conditions that create conflicts and remove it," Modi stated at the Guyana Parliament.

The Prime Minister, who is in Guyana on the final leg of his three-nation visit, was conferred with ‘The Order of Excellence’ by Guyanese President Irfaan Ali on Wednesday.

During the address, PM Modi expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank you all for giving me a chance to come here at the historic Parliament of Guyana. Yesterday, I was conferred with Guyana’s highest national award. I would like to thank you all for this as well. I dedicate this award to the people of India."

Russia-Ukraine War Escalates

The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered a new phase with growing international implications. On Thursday, Kyiv accused Russia of launching an intercontinental ballistic missile at its central city of Dnipro.

Moscow strike comes after Ukraine’s use of US and UK-made missiles to target military sites in Russian territory earlier this week, further escalating the conflict that has now lasted over 1,000 days.

The attack also marks the first time Moscow has deployed such a powerful, long-range missile in the war. However, the Kremlin has not confirmed whether it was responsible for the strike.
