IGNOU PhD registration deadline extended: The Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) has extended the registration deadlines for the 2024 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The registrations started on October 30, 2024, at the official portal ignouadm.samarth.edu.in. Interested and eligible candidates who have yet not registered for the IGNOU PhD programmes can submit their applications by visiting the official site. Applicants must pay a registration fee of Rs 1,000.

Candidates can follow the steps to submit applications for the IGNOU PhD programmes.
Step 1: Visit the official IGNOU admission portal.
Step 2: Click on the ‘New Registration’ option under the applicant login section.

Step 3: Create an account by providing your name and password.
Step 4: Upon account creation, a username will be sent to you via email and SMS.
Step 5: Log in using the received username and complete the application form.
Step 6: Upload the necessary documents and make the required payment.
Step 7: After submission, download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Required Documents for IGNOU PhD Admission 2024

Candidates applying for IGNOU PhD admission must submit several documents, including their birth certificate, academic transcripts, caste or income certificates (if applicable), and UGC NET-JRF or NET scorecards. A scanned passport-sized photograph and signature are also required.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 55% marks, with a 50% requirement for reserved category candidates. A valid UGC NET score with a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or a UGC NET score alone is necessary. Candidates must also comply with the reservation policies and norms set by India’s Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) for research programmes.
