In a big move, India and China have agreed to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, following years of border tensions, during a special representative meeting between the two sides.

The move came after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Beijing on January 26–27, 2025, for a meeting with Vice Foreign Minister of China to review India-China bilateral relations.

Along with Kailash Mansarovar Yatra resumption, the two sides have also agreed to resume direct flights between the two nations, promote cross-border river cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

The meeting follows the bilateral between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in Kazan in October 2024.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on measures to maintain peace and tranquility along the border, and strengthen mechanisms for diplomatic and military negotiations.

This is a developing story
