Indian helicopters and warships like INS Vikrant and INS Udaygiri are aiding Sri Lanka after cyclone Ditwah, delivering relief and rescuing thousands.

Indian helicopters have joined ongoing search and rescue operations in flood-hit Sri Lanka caused due to cyclone Ditwah, bolstering efforts to evacuate people stranded by rising waters as large parts of the island continue to reel under severe flooding.
People are praising the “incredible work" of pilots and ground teams involved in the operation.
The deployment comes amid intensified relief efforts as Sri Lanka battles the impact of torrential rain and overflowing rivers that have submerged several low-lying areas.

Rescue teams are using aerial support to reach marooned residents in areas cut off by floodwaters, where road access has become difficult or impossible.
India has stepped up humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka following the weather emergency, with search-and-rescue teams, relief material and aerial assets being mobilised to aid evacuation and emergency response. Authorities in both countries are coordinating closely as operations continue in affected districts.
Warships INS Vikrant and INS Udaygiri delivered 4.5 tonnes of dry rations, 2 tonnes of fresh rations, and a range of essential items to help families impacted by the cyclone.
As part of a parallel airlift operation, a C-130J aircraft landed in Colombo early this morning with nearly 12 tonnes of relief supplies, including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits and ready-to-eat meals.
Additionally, an IL-76 transport aircraft touched down in Colombo with nine tonnes of relief cargo, alongside 80 Disaster Response Force personnel, four search-and-rescue canines, and eight tonnes of specialised HADR equipment to support emergency operations on the ground.
Two Chetak helicopters deployed from INS Vikrant are actively participating in joint search-and-rescue operations alongside Sri Lanka Air Force teams.
Over 200,000 people from 61,000 families have been impacted, with thousands displaced to temporary relief camps after their homes were destroyed or severely damaged.
An Indian Air Force C-130 aircraft carrying emergency supplies landed in Colombo early Saturday, delivering food packets, hygiene material and other essentials for affected communities.
India announced Operation Sagar Bandhu the same day, pledging swift assistance as Sri Lanka grappled with what authorities described as an “unprecedented disaster" in the Western Province.
