The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said India is still examining the invite to be a member of Board of Peace for Gaza proposed by US President Donald Trump.
During a press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: “We have received the proposal from US side. It is still being examined."
This comes ahead of the inaugural summit of the Board of Peace scheduled for February 19 at the US Institute of Peace in Washington. It will bring together leaders who accepted Trump’s invitation earlier this year, along with members of an executive committee tasked with overseeing Gaza’s governance, security and reconstruction.

The proposal is also expected to be discussed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Israel, where regional security concerns and Gaza’s future are on the agenda.
India has consistently supported a two-state solution to the Israel–Palestine conflict and is evaluating how participation in the board could affect its long-standing engagement with Palestine. A key concern for New Delhi is the presence of Pakistan and Turkey on the board. Pakistan had earlier been encouraged by the Trump administration to consider deploying stabilisation forces in Gaza, adding another layer of complexity to India’s assessment.
More than 20 countries have joined the Gaza Peace Board so far. Participants include Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Argentina and Hungary. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted an invitation to serve on the board and is expected to be in Washington for separate talks with President Trump. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has also confirmed his attendance.
Eight Muslim-majority countries — Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar and the UAE — are expected to take part, with efforts to present a common position on Gaza. India’s participation remains under active consideration.
