India Shoots Down Barrage Of Pakistani Drones And Missiles, Hits Lahore Air Defence System

India penetrated Pakistan’s air defence systems for two consecutive nights, exposing vulnerabilities in the neighbouring country’s security. The security forces dispatched drones into Pakistan’s biggest cities, including Lahore and Rawalpindi after Islamabad made a failed attempt to damage the Indian radar system by sending loitering munitions.

Pakistan’s Air Defence units of HQ-9 air defence missile launchers have suffered heavy damage. The Air Defence system deployed in Lahore has been neutralised, the Ministry of Defence said.

India struck Pakistan’s defence unit after Islamabad attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles on the night of May 7-8. However, Pakistan’s attempts were neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. “The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks," the ministry said.

Indian missiles crossed the border without any trouble from Pakistan’s air defence system to strike terror camps in Punjab province on May 7.

The developments came amid high tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations after India launched a military operation against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
