MacOS users have been issued a new security warning by the Indian government which affects multiple apps on their system.

The new security warning from the Indian government relates to two apps
The Indian government has warned macOS users about a new security risk that can leave their system exposed and allow hackers to steal data. People using the latest and older MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini models are the major targets here and will be rightly worried about the new alert from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
The security warning comes with a medium severity rating which tells us what the issue is, which apps are culprit for the security risk and what Apple is doing to secure its devices.
MacOS Security Warning: What It Says
The CERT-In bulletin in January 2026 comes with a medium severity rating and explains the risk posed to varied Mac users in the country. “These vulnerabilities exist in macOS due to an out-of-bounds read in the Pages component and error in the QuickLook component. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by enticing a victim to open a specially crafted file."
Security issues like these have been rarely mentioned for macOS users but Apple has been quick to highlight, report and fix the issues that can become damaging for millions.
MacOS Security Issue: Who Is At Risk?
These vulnerabilities are particularly linked to two apps that macOS rely on for their work and other tasks.
Pages versions prior to 15.1Keynote versions prior to 15.1If you have these two apps on the Mac system and the versions of these apps are outdated, you should update right away and Apple is offering those through its official channel.
The worrying part about the new risk is that the affected list includes almost every Mac user out there. But the good news is that the security agency and Apple are aware of who is at risk because of the new issue.
Apple already knows about the vulnerability and has offered updates for the mentioned devices and platforms. All you have to do is go to Settings – General – Software update to install the new update and secure your devices.
