An 18-year-old Indian expatriate student passed away in Dubai after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. A first-year BBA Marketing student at Middlesex University Dubai, Vaishnav Krishnakumar was a UAE Golden Visa recipient.
Vaishnav, who graduated from GEMS Our Own Indian School in the 2024–25 batch, reportedly collapsed during Diwali celebrations at Dubai Academic City on October 21. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
His school issued a circular expressing “deep sorrow" at the loss of its former Head of School Council, announcing that events such as Pink Day and the Family First Carnival would be rescheduled in his memory.
A circular issued by the school, accessed by local media, read: “It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of our ex-student and former Head of School Council, Vaishnav Krishnakumar (Batch of 2024-25), last night."
Middlesex University Dubai paid tribute, describing the teen as an “exemplary student respected for his academic contributions and admired for his kindness and humility." The university said his loss had deeply affected the community and extended condolences to his family.

According to his LinkedIn profile, the teen, beyond academics, was active in Model United Nations, serving as president in 2024 and mentoring younger delegates. He also interned at Kendal AI and Uniplus, gaining early experience in marketing and business strategy.
