Luck finally smiled on an Indian nurse living in the United Arab Emirates as her five-year-long hope turned into a winning reality.
Tintu Jesmon, a 40-year-old registered nurse based in Ajman, won Dh100,000 (around Rs 24 lakh) in the Big Ticket Draw Series 281, Gulf News reported.
A native of Kerala, Jesmon has been living in Ajman for the past 15 years. She purchased the winning ticket, numbered 522882, on November 30 as part of a group of 10 participants. Group ticket purchases are a popular option among Big Ticket buyers, allowing participants to share the cost of the ticket as well as the prize money.
The moment she learned about her win, Jesmon was overwhelmed with joy. “I was delighted to learn that I had won," she told the news outlet.
As per the report, Jesmon first heard about Big Ticket through social media, friends and colleagues and decided to try her luck five years ago. Her persistence finally paid off with this win.
Staying true to the spirit of sharing, Jesmon said she will divide the prize money equally among the group members. She further emphasisd that she will continue buying Big Ticket entries in the hope of winning again.
Earlier this year, another Kerala native won 3 crore UAE dirhams (around Rs 70,56,65,400).
Manu Mohanan, working in the medical sector in Bahrain, had bought two tickets for the Big Ticket Raffle. As per a buy two-get one free scheme, he received one ticket for free. During the draw on a live TV show, the host called Mohanan and told him that he had won 3 crore dirhams on ticket number 535948. A stunned Mohanan had to ask the host three times whether what he was hearing was true.
