A 24-year-old Indian woman mysteriously vanished days after arriving in the United States for an arranged marriage, according to authorities in New Jersey.

The woman, identified as Simran Simran, arrived from India on June 20, the New York Post reported, citing the police. Surveillance footage discovered cops apparently shows the woman looking at her phone and seemingly waiting for someone.

Investigators said she had come to New Jersey for an arranged marriage, but it was also possible that she had no intention to marry and merely wanted a free trip to America, as per police.

Simran was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops, and small diamond-studded earrings. She went missing on Wednesday, but police said she did not appear to be in distress in her last video.

According to police, Simran had no relatives living in the US, nor did she speak English. Police have also been unable to reach relatives in India. She has been described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds, with a small scar on the left side of her forehead.

Simran has an international phone that only works on Wi-Fi. “At this time, there are no known family members in India to contact to obtain her possible whereabouts," Lindenwold police said on Thursday.

A foul play is yet to be established in Simran’s disappearance. This came after a high-profile case emerged in March as Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student from India, who went missing during a spring break trip to the Dominican Republic. Konanki was a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the United States.
