Is Biden trying to do a Capitol Hill on Trump with World War 3

On January 6, 2021, pro-Trumpers entered Capitol Hill, the government's centre in Washington DC, to protest against the results of the 2020 election that went against President Donald Trump. Democratic candidate Joe Biden called this riot an "unprecedented assault". The tables have turned in the 2024 elections. And after a Trump win and in the transition period, President Biden has done something that could alter the course of history. He handed over long-range US-made missiles to Ukraine and allowed their use to hit targets deep inside Russia. Without losing any moment, Ukraine attacked Russia with six of these missiles on Tuesday. This could well lead to the much-feared World War III. What everyone is asking is whether Biden did this to disrupt the transition. Is this Biden's very own Capitol Hill assault?

While several Trump allies have condemned this effort by Biden in the last leg of his Presidency, Biden has remained committed tens of billions of dollars to Kyiv's war effort. The Ukraine-Russia War saw its 1,000th day on November 19.

With Biden allowing the use of missiles, saw a dangerous escalation in the war. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree lowering the threshold when Russia could resort to the use of nuclear weapons. The forces of Ukrainian President Vlodimir Zelenskyy fired six US-made missiles into Russia.

This was a red line that Putin had drawn. Biden helped breach that.

Biden crossed a long-standing line on Ukraine's use of American weapons to launch an attack against Russia.

Donald Trump Jr, the President-elect's son, even tweeted how Biden was trying to start World War III. He hinted how it was an attempt to queer the pitch before Trump took over in January.

"The military industrial complex seems to want to make sure they get World War Three going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives," he said.

When Biden's team was asked if a President could take such an important decision in a transition period?

Biden was "elected to a four year-term, not a term of three years and 10 months." When Trump takes over, he can take a different decision, said Biden's team.

But many in the US think that Biden is leaving behind a chaos which would be difficult for Trump to manage.

James Gilmore, who was Trump's ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, told the BBC that Biden's intent was visible in how late in his term he was lending support to Ukraine.

"My criticism of Biden is the same as every other conservative and supporter of Trump - which is that the Biden administration slow-walked this," he said.

Biden's move to help Ukraine shocked many.

"Why would Joe Biden allow Ukraine to fire American-made long-range missiles into Russia knowing that this is Putin's nuclear red line?! He's risking World War III with just 62 days left in office. This is IMPEACHABLE," said Glenn Beck, a US political commentator.

Some are even calling it "Biden's attempt to plunge US into war".

"Only Congress can declare war, but the Biden admin is doing everything it can in its final days to provoke war with Russia. Congress must ask itself what can be done to prevent this admin from escalating its proxy war with Russia into a direct nuclear conflict. Joe Biden is trying to plunge us into WW3," said Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.

This also pushes the world closer to a nuclear war.

To many, this last-minute approval by Biden looks like an attempt by the US President to cling onto power.

"This administration is so desperate to cling to power that they are willing to gamble with our future just as America is on the verge of restoring competent leadership. Potential World War IIIâ€æwhat a lovely parting gift," said Alexandra Lains, a commentator on X.

Even in his political campaign, Trump promised he would stop the war.

But now many in the US and across the world are in fear of a nuclear war. This is because Ukraine has been allowed to make use of long-range American missiles.

It has earlier also had UK and French Storm Shadow and Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) but was never allowed to use it.

Putin's spokesman has also said that the US was "adding fuel to the fire".

The fear of an imminent escalation in war that could first impact Nato countries in Russia's proximity, has made Sweden, Finland and Denmark issue emergency guidelines, asking citizens to stock up on food and water.

Biden's approval of missile use has dangerously escalated the war and left many asking if this was a coup against the incoming President. The world is on the edge, and there are at least days before Trump's inauguration. Will there be a slip between the cup and the lip?
