Kash Patel was formally sworn in as the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director by US Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday in the presence of his girlfriend and family members.

Indian-American Kash Patel was formally sworn in as the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director on Friday, making him one of the most influential appointees of the Trump cabinet.

Patel arrived at the Indian Treaty Room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building with his family members and took the oath on a copy of the Bhagavad Gita as he was sworn in as the ninth FBI Director in the United States.

Patel, a fierce Trump loyalist, was narrowly confirmed in the position by a 51-49 vote in the US Senate. Two Republican senators, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, joined all Democrats in voting against Patel to head the 38,000-strong federal agency.

Who Is Kash Patel’s Girlfriend?

Kash Patel is dating Alexis Wilkins, 26, who is a country music artist. Wilkins also made an appearance at Patel’s swearing-in ceremony, holding the Bhagavad Gita for him as Attorney General Pam Bondi read him the oath.

After his oath-taking, Patel made a speech where he said, “I am here because of my family and I am here because of my friends. We are literally in this room because you made it happen. My sister Nisha and my nephew flew in from London just to be here. My beautiful girlfriend Alexis is here."

After Alexis’ name was announced, there was some hooting from the audience to which Patel said, “Yeah, I agree."

Apart from being a prominent face in country music, Wilkins is also a leading conservative voice and has accepted the role of press secretary for Republican US Rep. from Arizona Abe Hamadeh. She has made several appearances at high-profile Republican events with Patel.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the couple met at a conservative ReAwaken America event in October 2022 and started dating a few months later. While Patel, 44, has never married, the couple appear serious about their relationship after dating for over two years.

Who Is Alexis Wilkins?

Alexis Wilkins was born on November 3, 1999, and spent her childhood across England and Switzerland before settling in Arkansas, US. She moved to Nashville, which is known as the heartland of country music and developed her niche in the same genre – writing her first song at the mere age of 8.

Wilkins is a graduate of Belmont University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus on Political Science and Governance in 2020 from there. She also won the prestigious Williams Murray Writing Award at Belmont, showing her storytelling talent besides music.

While she was preparing for her graduation, Wilkins dropped her debut single Holdin’ On in 2020. Her debut EP ‘Grit‘ climbed to the Number 4 spot on iTunes, and her song Country Back was placed second on the iTunes Country Chart. She has also opened for God Bless The USA singer Lee Greenwood, one of Trump’s favourites.

The country singer rose to prominence among conservative circles in recent years. She spoke at Young America’s Foundation (YAF) events as well as at the Reagan Ranch in California, a key conservative hub in America. She also works with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

‘I am Living The American Dream’

After the oath, Patel embraced Bondi, Wilkins and his family before making a victory gesture to the cheering crowd. Addressing the audience, Patel thanked US President Donald Trump, calling him a “courageous warrior and leader".

“I am living the American dream, and anyone who thinks the American dream is dead, look right here. You’re talking to a first-generation Indian who is about to lead the law enforcement agency of the greatest nation on earth. That can’t happen anywhere else," he added.

Kashyap Pramod Patel, 44, was born in New York on February 25, 1980, to Gujarati immigrant parents from East Africa and pursued a career in law. He traces his roots to Bhadran village in Gujarat’s Anand district, from where his family migrated to Uganda 70 to 80 years ago, his community members told the news agency PTI on Friday.
