Israel’s cabinet approved the ceasefire deal with Hamas along with the hostage release deal, as per to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. The deal, which will take effect from Sunday, would see a pause in fighting in Gaza and lead a phased release of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners.
The deal brings an end to the deadly war in which at least 46,876 people have been killed and another 110,642 people have been injured in Gaza since October 7, 2023, as per data from Gaza’s health ministry.
Amid the announcement of the Israel-Hamas deal, international aid agencies have vowed to scale up their work in Gaza. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees called for “rapid, unhindered and uninterrupted humanitarian access” to the strip to relieve the suffering caused by war.
