Israel said it intercepted two projectiles launched from Yemen in the past 48 hours, both of which were reportedly aimed at Ben Gurion Airport, the country’s main international hub near Tel Aviv.

On Tuesday, the Israeli military said its air force had intercepted a projectile fired from Yemen. No air raid sirens were activated during this incident, and there were no injuries, according to Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom.

This came just two days after a similar attempt on Sunday, when a missile was intercepted shortly after air raid sirens sounded across parts of Israel, including Jerusalem. AFP journalists reported that the sirens went off moments before the interception.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels later claimed responsibility for both attacks, saying they had launched two ballistic missiles toward Israel, with Ben Gurion Airport as the target.

The Houthis, who control large swathes of Yemeni territory, have regularly fired drones and missiles at Israel since the Gaza war began, aligning themselves with Iran’s regional proxy network in support of Hamas.
