Japan's new Prime Minister plans to call a snap election on October 27, aiming for swift public judgment of his government
Japan’s next prime minister Shigeru Ishiba said Monday he intended to call a snap election for October 27, after being voted leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) last week.
“It is important for the new government to be judged by the people as soon as possible and, if conditions allow, I hope to call a snap election, to hold a general election on October 27,” Ishiba told reporters.
