Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his three-nation visit after a jam-packed schedule on the last day of his stay in Guyana where he met prominent cricket personalities from West Indies, addressed a Special Session of Assembly of the Parliament of the country among other engagements.

The Prime Minister paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue mounted at Promenade Gardens in Georgetown. He also paid floral tribute at Arya Samaj monument, visited Saraswati Vidya Niketan School and also paid to visit to Indian Arrival monument at the Monument Gardens and also addressed an Indian community programme.

PM Modi arrived in Guyana on Wednesday, which also marked the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 50 years.

Before departing for India on Thursday, PM Modi met personalities from West Indian cricket along with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, and emphasised that the sport serves as a unique bond connecting India with the Caribbean.

“Innings of friendship! PM @narendramodi along with President @DrMohamedIrfaa1 of Guyana met with prominent Cricket personalities from the West Indies today in Georgetown," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on X.

PM Modi Addresses Indian Community In Guyana

Addressing the Indian community in the country, the Prime Minister said that Culture, cuisine and cricket are deep connections between the two countries.

He lauded the contribution of the Indo-Guyanese community to the development of the Caribbean country and highlighted that the shared values between the two countries provide a strong foundation for their friendship.

“Three things, in particular, connect India and Guyana deeply. Culture, cuisine and cricket," he said.

“The love for cricket also binds our nations strongly. It is not just a sport. It is a way of life, deeply embedded in our national identity. Many of our cricket fans enjoyed the T-20 World Cup that you hosted this year. Your cheers for the ‘Team in Blue’ at their match in Guyana could be heard even back home in India!" PM Modi added.
