Union Minister and JD(U) leader Lallan Singh on Thursday reaffirmed that his party is firmly remains with the Democratic Alliance (NDA) while responding to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s statement that the doors of the opposition alliance are always open for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“We are with the NDA and with full firmness. I cannot react to what people say—there is freedom of expression; people can say whatever they want," Singh told news agency ANI.
Singh’s statement comes amid growing speculation following Lalu Prasad Yadav’s comments on January 1. In an interview with a YouTube channel, the RJD supremo remarked that “doors are open" for Nitish Kumar to rejoin the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan).
During the interview, Lalu stated, “Nitish Kumar can join us and work together." He reiterated that his doors remain open for both the public and Nitish Kumar. Should Nitish decide to return, Lalu emphasised that there would be no issues in working together again.
However, Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu’s son, downplayed his father’s comments, saying, “You keep asking him this; what else would he say? He said this just to calm you all down." He dismissed the remarks as an attempt to satisfy media curiosity.
