Former US President Barack Obama recently voiced his support for Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate for the 2024 election, Kamala Harris, 59, in a video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). The 56-second clip features Obama in conversation with actress and activist Eva Longoria, where he praised Harris for "fighting on behalf of people".

"@KamalaHarris has spent her life fighting for people who need a voice and a chance – and she's going to keep fighting for you. That's the kind of person I'm proud to vote for, and that's the kind of president we need," Obama wrote alongside the video on X.

According to local media, last Wednesday alone, Obama recorded more than 20 videos in support of the Harris-Walz campaign, with additional ads prepared for Democratic Senate candidates.

In the video, Obama also contrasts Harris with another unnamed individual, whom he criticises as self-centred, referencing late-night tweets and long, angry speeches.

"You've got, on one side, somebody who really just cares about himself, 2 am tweets and tirades," Obama remarked in the video.

On the other hand, Obama highlighted Harris's modest beginnings and strong determination, stressing that she would focus on standing up for the American people as president.

Earlier, Obama, along with his wife Michelle, had expressed continued support for Kamala Harris, stating that she would be a fantastic President of the United States.

Additionally, Obama has been rallying for Harris in Pennsylvania, a critical battleground state. During a rally there, he specifically appealed to Black male voters, urging them to support Harris.

Recent polls indicate that Harris is less popular among Black male voters, a group where Donald Trump currently holds a lead.

Obama's endorsement video is part of a broader push for the upcoming presidential election on November 5, 2024.
