Congress leader Praniti Shinde on Wednesday declared her support to independent candidate Dharmaraj Kadadi in Maharashtra’s Solapur South assembly seat, which was contested by her party’s ally Shiv Sena (UBT).
Speaking to reporters after casting her vote here in south-western Maharashtra, she said coalition norm was followed and the Congress did not give ‘AB’ form (a document that mentions the official party candidate) to its member Kadadi, who then entered the fray as an independent candidate.
Praniti Shinde pointed out that the Solapur South seat has given a chief minister to Maharashtra, a reference to her father and Congress stalwart Sushilkumar Shinde.

Congress candidate Arif Naseem Khan on Wednesday complained to election officials seeking registration of an FIR against Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde for allegedly violating the poll code by leading a roadshow in Chandivali assembly seat on the polling day.

A guy in a money laundering investigation related to a cash-for-votes case in Maharashtra was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday after being detained at the Ahmedabad international airport, according to official sources.
Based on a lookout circular (LOC) issued by the ED, immigration officials initially detained Nagani Akram Mohammad Shafi at the airport in neighboring Gujarat. They claimed he was “trying to flee” to Dubai.
According to the sources, the individual was taken into custody in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
