One MobiKwik Systems Ltd on Wednesday, December 17, announced the appointment of Navdeep Singh Suri as chairperson of its board, strengthening the company’s focus on corporate governance and long-term institutional growth.
Suri, who has been associated with MobiKwik since 2021 as an independent director, succeeds Upasana Taku in the role.
The company said the appointment aligns with best governance practices by ensuring a clear separation between the chairperson and executive management, enabling independent oversight and effective decision-making.
A former senior Indian diplomat, Suri brings decades of experience in public policy, diplomacy and governance. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1983 and has held key international assignments, including serving as India’s ambassador to Egypt and the UAE, high commissioner to Australia, and consul general in Johannesburg, as per the press release. He was awarded the UAE’s Order of Zayed II for his contributions.
Suri also headed the West Africa and public diplomacy divisions in the Ministry of External Affairs and is currently a visiting fellow at the Observer Research Foundation. He serves on the boards of several institutions, including SBI Funds (IFSC) Ltd, Hindustan Ports Pvt Ltd and Hindustan Infralog Pvt Ltd.
Commenting on the appointment, Bipin Preet Singh, MD, CEO and Co-Founder of MobiKwik, said Suri’s experience and long association with the company would support the board’s role in governance and oversight.
Shares of MobiKwik ended 1.82% lower at ₹231.50 on the BSE today, December 17.
