Talking about his meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping, Donald Trump said the Chinese officials were standing "with their backs straight, a posture he had never seen"

American President Donald Trump has said he has never come across “men so scared in their lives" as the Chinese officials accompanying their leader Xi Jinping, joking that he wants his cabinet to be like that.
Talking about his experience while meeting Xi Jinping in South Korea’s Busan, Donald Trump said six Chinese officials were standing “with their backs straight, a posture he had never seen" and refused to respond when he addressed them.
In this, Trump also teased his vice-president JD Vance, who he said does not behave like that and “butts into conversations".

“I made a comment to one of them, but he didn’t respond to me. So I asked him if he was going to respond, but he remained quiet… I want my cabinet to behave like that, stand straight and with that posture, I’ve never seen men so scared in their lives," Trump said to raucous laughter from the crowd gathered at a press briefing.
Directly addressing JD Vance, he said he wants that behaviour from him, teasing that he is wanted “long term" but “a couple of days would be very very nice".
“The equivalent of a vice-president…I asked him: ‘Are you going to answer my question?’ But he just moved and I asked: ‘What’s wrong with this gentleman?’…JD doesn’t behave like that. He butts into conversations. I want to have that for at least a couple of days, we’ll keep you long term JD but a couple of days will be very very nice," he said.
Last week’s meeting between Trump and Xi marked a new phase in a fierce standoff between the two countries that has rumbled since 2018. Besides, temperatures have spiked between the world’s two biggest economies this year as Washington and Beijing slapped escalating tariffs on each other’s products.
Trump had called his meeting with Xi “a great one", which he said will bring lasting peace and success for both nations.
“My G2 meeting with President Xi of China was a great one for both of our countries. This meeting will lead to everlasting peace and success. God bless both China and the USA!" Trump had said in a post on Truth Social.
