BJP leader Rekha Gupta has been elected as the Chief Minister of Delhi, after being named the leader of the BJP Legislature Party. She is the fourth woman to assume this role in the national capital.
The announcement came eleven days after the results of the Delhi elections were declared, following widespread speculation on who would take the reins of power in Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had secured victory in 48 out of 70 seats, marking their return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
Gupta’s election has been widely celebrated across social media platforms, with congratulations pouring in from politicians of both the BJP and opposition parties.
Union Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari extended his heartfelt congratulations to Gupta, saying, “I am confident that under the leadership of Rekha ji, Delhi will be a source of pride for the nation in its progress."
Similarly, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his best wishes, writing, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and with his efforts, I firmly believe that Delhi will become the developed capital of a developed India."
