Hours after The Atlantic released the entire Signal chat that took place among Trump’s senior national security officials over an attack on the Houthis in Yemen, Pentagon’s Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth called them ‘hoaxes’ and questioned their credibility.

The thread of purported chats was released by The Atlantic on Wednesday. In the leaked conversation, Hegseth was seen sharing classified information related to the timing of bomb deployments and US warplane launches.

While reacting to the leaked conversations, the Pentagon chief strongly refuted the leaked chats and raised questions over their credibility.

Taking to X, Hegseth wrote, “So, let’s me get this straight. The Atlantic released the so-called “war plans" and those “plans" include: No names. No targets. No locations. No units. No routes. No sources. No methods. And no classified information. Those are some really s****y war plans."

So, let’s me get this straight. The Atlantic released the so-called “war plans" and those “plans" include: No names. No targets. No locations. No units. No routes. No sources. No methods. And no classified information. Those are some really shitty war plans.

This only proves…

He further said that The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg never saw a war plan which he said is evident from the leaked chats.

“This only proves one thing: Jeff Goldberg has never seen a war plan or an “attack plan" (as he now calls it). Not even close," Hegseth said.

Hegseth, who is currently travelling in the INDOPACOM region to meet with US military commanders, claimed that he is focused on national security and is not paying attention to media speculation.

“As I type this, my team and I are travelling the INDOPACOM region, meeting w/ Commanders (the guys who make REAL “war plans") and talking to troops. We will continue to do our job, while the media does what it does best: peddle hoaxes," he said.

What Bombshell Revelation Was Made In The Leaked Chats?

Pete Hegseth, who has refuted texting classified military plans, was seen as messaging the timeline of the airstrikes in the leaked chats, as per Jeffry Goldberg, who was added to the meeting of the US defence officials ‘mistakenly’.

In the group chat, Hegseth posted:

“1215et: F-18s LAUNCH (1st strike package)"

“1345: ‘Trigger Based’ F-18 1st Strike Window Starts (Target Terrorist is @ his Known Location so SHOULD BE ON TIME – also, Strike Drones Launch (MQ-9s)"

“1410: More F-18s LAUNCH (2nd strike package)"

“1415: Strike Drones on Target (THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST BOMBS WILL DEFINITELY DROP, pending earlier ‘Trigger Based’ targets)"

“1536 F-18 2nd Strike Starts – also, first sea-based Tomahawks launched."

“MORE TO FOLLOW (per timeline)"

“We are currently clean on OPSEC" — that is, operational security.

“Godspeed to our Warriors."

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday dismissed the scandal and called it a “witch hunt" amid calls for Hegseth’s resignation.

“Hegseth is doing a great job, he had nothing to do with this. How do you bring Hegseth into this? Look, look it’s all a witch hunt," Trump said.

He further said that Security Advisor Mike Waltz “took responsibility" for the mistake, which became the biggest scandal since Trump came to power in January 2025.
