Nothing OS 4.0 is now available for Phone 3, 3a and 2a users but has the company faced some issues with the new update?

Nothing OS 4.0 is based on Android 16 and seems to have faced some issues
Nothing rolled out its Android 16 update for Phone 3 and other models recently but a new development suggests the company has been forced to pause its release for some reason. Nothing Phone 3 users got the Nothing OS 4.0 version first and since then Phone 3a and Phone 2a users have got the new update as well. But some users have mentioned that Nothing is facing some issue with the new update and it has been paused for others who are yet to install or get it.
Nothing OS 4.0 Release Faces Issues
The news about the Nothing OS 4.0 update being paused has been mentioned by a Reddit user who reached out to the company’s support team asking for the status of the update for his Phone 3 unit. The customer support eventually pointed out that Nothing has temporarily halted and removed the current 4.0 rollout and are working on an urgent fix.
This statement is not official but the tone from the support team feels very legit. It also adds that those who have already got the Nothing OS 4.0 update will get a new patched update to fix the supposed issues. The company has not shared the details about the issues and whether its rollout has stumbled onto some technical problems that need fixing.
The Android 16-based version has been in the beta phase over the last few weeks and the public release means Phone 3 as well as the Phone 3a/3a Pro users got the stable roll out earlier this month.
The Nothing OS 4.0 update has a detailed and quite an elaborate change log which takes you through the feature list and changes. There are Glyph related features which make use of the tiny screen at the back.
Live Updates deliver real-time ride, delivery, and timer information directly to your screen and the Glyph Interface, unifying lock-screen, notification, and light-based cues so you can track progress instantly without opening an app.
Any app that supports Android 16’s Live Updates feature will now start supporting Nothing’s Glyph Progress feature. This means Nothing can support far more apps than before.
A refined Extra Dark Mode deepens blacks, improves contrast, and reduces power use across the system. It brings a calmer, more focused look to Notifications, Quick Settings, and the App Drawer, enhancing both comfort and visibility in low light. It now extends to first-party apps like Essential Space and Launcher, with wider integration to follow.
