NVIDIA becomes the first company ever worth $5 trillion, surpassing India’s GDP and cementing its dominance in the global AI boom with massive chip demand and expansion plans.

NVIDIA Corporation has made history as the first company ever to reach a $5 trillion market capitalization, a valuation now larger than India’s entire GDP, which stands at around $4.6 trillion. The semiconductor giant’s shares surged more than 4% as US markets opened on Wednesday, crossing the milestone with a market value of $5.05 trillion.

The achievement cements NVIDIA’s position as the undisputed leader of the global artificial intelligence (AI) revolution, a feat unmatched even by tech giants Apple and Microsoft.

The company’s meteoric rise from $4 trillion just three months ago underscores the seismic shift AI is driving across industries, with NVIDIA at the forefront as the world’s most valuable company.

CEO Jensen Huang announced that NVIDIA has secured an unprecedented $500 billion in AI chip orders over the next four years, reflecting surging worldwide demand for its processors that power everything from supercomputers and data centers to self-driving cars.

In a string of major announcements, NVIDIA revealed plans to build seven AI supercomputers for the US Department of Energy, deepening its role in national research and defense infrastructure. The company is also partnering with Uber to accelerate autonomous vehicle technology and has committed a $1 billion investment in Nokia to co-develop next-generation 6G networks, expanding its footprint into telecom and edge AI computing.

At $5 trillion, NVIDIA is not just breaking financial records, it is setting a new benchmark for what is possible in the age of AI. Its rise from a gaming graphics chipmaker to a trillion-dollar AI infrastructure powerhouse has rewritten the rules of the digital economy. The milestone marks a turning point in global technology leadership, signaling how AI innovation is reshaping industries and  market hierarchies worldwide.

NVIDIA’s record valuation comes just months after hitting $4 trillion in July 2025, reflecting the rapid pace of AI adoption and investor confidence in its dominance across high-performance computing and data infrastructure.
Over the years, the company has repeatedly set new valuation milestones.

From its IPO in 1999 with a market cap below $1 billion, to reaching $10 billion in 2007 on the strength of its GeForce GPU line, NVIDIA’s growth trajectory mirrors the evolution of modern computing. The acceleration began in the AI era with the company reaching $1 trillion in 2024, then $2 trillion by March 2024, and $3 trillion by June 2024. By July 2025, NVIDIA crossed $4 trillion, and now, in October 2025, it stands alone as the first $5 trillion company in history, underscoring its unrivaled influence over the AI economy.
