Muhammad Yunus vowed to follow slain leader Osman Hadi's ideals while paying tribute at his funeral, as Hadi's associates demanded swift action against his killers.

Muhammad Yunus addresses crowd at Osman Hadi's funeral
Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Saturday paid tribute to Osman Hadi at his funeral, saying the slain leader would continue to live in the hearts of the people and vowing to follow the ideals he stood for.
Addressing thousands of mourners, Yunus said people across Bangladesh and among the diaspora were waiting to hear about Hadi. “Dear Osman Hadi, we have not come here to say goodbye. You live within our hearts. As long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain an inseparable part of this nation,” he said.
Yunus recalled Hadi’s approach to politics, saying he showed how to connect with people with humility, express views without causing distress, and run campaigns with grace. “We accept this lesson and wish to implement it. We want to elevate our political culture to a level where Hadi’s example remains vividly alive,” he said.
He added that the leadership would not bow down to anyone and would keep its head held high before the world, calling it a promise Hadi had made to the people that would now be fulfilled.
24 HOUR ULTIMATUM TO MUHAMMAD YUNUS
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Jaber, a colleague of Osman Hadi from Inquilab Mancha, issued an ultimatum to the Yunus government. He demanded that the government make public, within the next 24 hours, the measures it has taken to arrest those responsible for killing Hadi.
MUHAMMAD YUNUS EFFIGY BURNT IN BENGAL
Separately, protests were held in Siliguri, where the Bangiya Hindu Manch organised a torchlight procession at the Venus More intersection. Demonstrators burned an effigy of Muhammad Yunus while protesting what they described as ongoing atrocities and systematic persecution of minority Hindus in Bangladesh.
Addressing the gathering, Bangiya Hindu Manch president Bikramaditya Mondal accused the Bangladeshi administration of failing to ensure the safety and security of Hindu citizens. He referred to a recent incident in which, he claimed, an innocent Hindu youth was burned to death solely because of his religious identity.
Mondal alleged that attacks on Hindus were part of a coordinated campaign by extremist forces. He cited incidents of physical assaults, sexual violence, temple desecration and arson targeting minority properties. He also claimed that Bangladesh was increasingly coming under the influence of Pakistan and China, alleging that Pakistan-backed elements were fuelling the violence.
The organisation questioned the silence of global human rights bodies and called for immediate international intervention to stop what it described as persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.
