Several videos have emerged showing the aftermath of a suicide bombing at a Shia place of worship in Pakistan’s capital, capturing scenes of chaos and panic following the deadly attack that killed at least 31 people and injured more than 160.
The blast struck the Terlai Imambargah in Islamabad’s Shehzad Town area during Friday prayers, when worshippers had gathered in large numbers.
Footage shared on X shows the mosque compound littered with scattered footwear, a haunting reminder of the panic as people tried to flee. Victims lie or sit on the ground, some bleeding, while others shout for help, frantically calling relatives and emergency services.

A security source said the attacker detonated himself at the mosque gate. “The attacker was stopped at the gate and detonated himself," they told AFP.
The explosion occurred after Friday prayers, a time when mosques across the country are packed with worshippers. Officials warned the casualty toll could rise further.
AFP journalists at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital saw victims, including children, being carried on stretchers or by arms and legs. Medics and bystanders helped unload people in blood-soaked clothes from ambulances and vehicles, with at least one casualty arriving in a car boot. Friends and relatives screamed and wept as victims arrived at the hospital’s heavily guarded emergency ward.
Outside the mosque, pools of blood were visible on the ground, yellow crime scene tape cordoned off the area, and debris including shoes, clothing, and broken glass was scattered across the site.
No group has claimed responsibility, though analysts suggest the attack may have been carried out by the local Islamic State affiliate or anti-Shiite militants.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called it “a heinous crime against humanity and a blatant violation of Islamic principles," adding that “Pakistan stands united against terrorism in all its forms."
The attack comes amid growing insurgencies in Pakistan’s southern and northern provinces, where militants often launch attacks from Afghan territory. It is the deadliest assault in Islamabad since the 2008 Marriott hotel bombing.
