Monsoon Session Of Parliament 2025 LIVE Updates: Union home minister Amit Shah is set to introduce three major bills in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, proposing that a sitting minister, chief minister or even the prime minister can lose their position within a month if they are arrested or detained for 30 consecutive days over an offence that carries a jail term of five years or more.

Sources indicate that this could avoid a situation like Delhi, where Arvind Kejriwal continued to be the Chief Minister while in custody.

The list of government business in the Lok Sabha showed that the Centre will introduce three bills – The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, The Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill – in the Lower House on Wednesday.

The three legislations, along with the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, are listed in the revised agenda of Lok Sabha for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Opposition members reacted sharply to the government’s move to bring the bills in the revised agenda that was put out late evening, saying it is an attempt to distract attention from their protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

“People are being jailed under false, serious charges. In states that do not have BJP CMs or Ministers, another method to remove them power is being brought by this government. Democratic norms are not left anymore. Those who are bringing this Bill, are not getting one thing – once they go out of power, they won’t come back. Their own people have started opposing them,” he added.
