Perched atop the world’s skinniest skyscraper, the penthouse at Manhattan’s Steinway Tower is now up for grabs—if you have a spare $110 million. Located on the ultra-luxe Billionaires’ Row, this jaw-dropping residence offers breathtaking views of Central Park. Spanning an impressive 11,480 square feet, the quadplex stretches from the 80th to the 83rd floor of the tower, which is the second-tallest residential building in the US.

The lavish home boasts five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 618 square feet of outdoor terrace space. Designed by Studio Sofield, the interiors are just as grand as the address. The first level features an Entertaining Suite perfect for hosting, the third holds a sprawling Primary Suite, and the top floor—called the Crown Suite—comes complete with a private bar and a screening room. As a bonus, the tower still houses the historic Steinway Hall, dating back to 1925, blending old-world charm with sky-high modern luxury.

The tower, whose construction began in 2013 and finished in 2022, was designed by New York based SHoP Architects and built by JDS Development, Property Markets Group and Spruce Capital Partners. The tower stands on the site that once belonged to the famous Steinway and Sons piano company. Now, the building is ready to welcome new residents, and while its shape is tall and narrow, the prices aren’t small.

According to the website, the Steinway Tower’s penthouse comes with several luxury features. It offers direct elevator entry and an entryway with white macauba stone flooring. The ceilings reach up to 14 feet, while the floor-to-ceiling windows fill the space with natural light. Throughout the penthouse, there are 9-foot custom doors, all fitted with bronze handles and hinges. The home includes a zoned, year-round fan coil HVAC system, a private internal elevator, a custom-built staircase, private outdoor space and even an observatory for stunning views.

In a 2022 interview with CNN, Studio Sofield’s founder, William Sofield, said, “We’ve all been to very luxurious places, but I wanted to create a building that could not be anywhere else in the world. I know so many people might have multiple homes, who will have apartments here. And I wanted to create a very distinct experience that could only be had in New York. I am always very personal in my work. So (take) the swimming pool, for example, I didn’t want it to feel like a normal swimming pool. It has wood panelling with great detailing and gold leaf details. It has a vaulted ceiling. It has draperies. So it’s very unlike any swimming pool you would find in New York."

Reportedly, the outside of the Steinway Tower is covered with terracotta, a special material that looks different depending on the light and the angle you’re viewing it. Sometimes it may seem like the colour or texture has changed, which gives the building a unique and eye-catching look.
