PM Modi accused the DMK government of betraying the mandate of the people, accusing it of making Tamil Nadu an ATM for one family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said Tamil Nadu has decided to “throw out" the ruling DMK government, adding that the people want a government that works for every family, and not just a single family.
Addressing a public event in Tiruchirappalli in English, PM Modi said, “The whole state has made up its mind to throw out DMK from the government. The people want a government that works for every family, not for just one family."
He called Tiruchirappalli a land of courage and faith, adding that the BJP government has always been at the forefront when it came to respecting Tamil Nadu and its culture. “It is a matter of pride that CP Radhakrishnan, a son of Tamil Nadu, is our Vice President," he added.
“For the NDA government, Tamil Nadu’s progress is extremely important. Since 2014, the central government has given Rs 3 lakh crore for devolution alone. This is many more times than the amount during the earlier Congress-DMK government," he said. “The NDA government has spent nearly Rs 57,000 crore on national highways in the state, which is four times the amount spent by the Congress-DMK government from 2004-14."
‘DMK Betrayed Mandate’
He also accused the DMK government of betraying the mandate of the people. “In DMK rule, everything starts and ends with one family. Ministers may change, MLAs may change, but power remains only with one dynasty. DMK is in favour of their scientific corruption model. Today, the same model is being used to make Tamil Nadu an ATM for that family," he remarked.
He said the farmers were the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s food security, and deserved good facilities and modern infrastructure. The PM highlighted that DMK promised to build grain warehouses, but farmers are still searching for these warehouses that are nowhere to be found.
“DMK had promised a big increase in MSP for paddy. Farmers are asking – What happened to these promises? Illegal sand mining is destroying rivers and threatening the environment, yet those responsible continue to enjoy the protection of the DMK," he added.
The Prime Minister arrived in Tamil Nadu for an official visit after inaugurating several development initiatives worth approximately Rs 11,000 crore in poll-bound Kerala. Earlier on Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, while addressing the DMK conference in Trichy, said, “The state will always be a no-entry zone for the BJP and the NDA. The fight is between the people of Tamil Nadu and the NDA."
