Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Donald Trump for the first since the latter took charge as US President for a second time, sources aware of the development told CNN-News18.
During the conversation, both leaders discussed bilateral ties between the two biggest democracies and emphasised their shared commitment to working together for global peace and stability.
Prime Minister Modi last spoke to Trump on November 7 last year, the day the Republican leader achieved a sweeping victory in the US Presidential Elections.
Notably, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar represented India at Donald Trump’s inauguration event, held on January 20. Invited by the US State, he carried a personal letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Trump.
