Union minister JP Nadda on Thursday defended the BJP-led central government after Congress party president questioned the Home Ministry, demanding an answer regarding the attack on Farooq Abdullah, despite the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister being covered by the Z+ security.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Nadda slammed the Congress party for questioning the government’s intention and attacked the opposition party, saying that blaming the government for risking Abdullah’s life is propaganda.

The Union minister stated that the incident is a serious incident and assured the House that the government will launch an inquiry into the matter.

The Conference (NC) chief and former J&K Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, was attacked at point-blank range while he was attending a wedding in Jammu on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old attacker, identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal, got in close range of Z+ security protectee Abdullah before firing a shot from his personal licensed weapon. Luckily, the shooter missed the target and was quickly overpowered by Security Guard (NSG) commandos, scripting a miraculous escape for the Conference president.
